FabLab Laser Cutting Demonstrations
Drop in for free demonstrations of laser cutting. See samples being designed and cut, plus take home small custom-made pieces.
Sydney Mini Maker Faire
The Sydney mini Maker Faire returns to the Powerhouse Museum for the opening weekend of Sydney Design 2014. It's an inspiring, family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness.
Hack the Collection
This exciting program matches 10 Sydney designers with 10 objects from the Museum's collection which have been 3D scanned and given to designers to be 'hacked'.

Curator Tours: Interface Exhibition
On this 30-minute intensive tour, the curator of Interface teases out some of the main themes behind the exhibition, giving a great background to developments in modern technology product design.
Using 3D Printing in the Classroom
Explore this evolving technology from the perspective of real industry and educational applications. Created for secondary students, teachers and design novices.
3D Printing Workshops with Rebekah Araullo
Get insights and experience in designing for 3D printers. Manipulate basic shapes on a 3D program and print to MakerBot 3D printers, and get tips on how to get started at home.
Orkhēstra: Interactive Light Installation
Inspired by underwater coral, Orkhēstra uses cutting-edge computational design, light technology and interaction design, allowing you to alter the colour sequences with your own camera flash.
Oscar: the Drawing Machine
Created by University of Sydney students, Oscar takes a digital photo of your face and converts it into an analogue portrait using a mechanical pen plotter.
Cars for Kids
In this drop-in free activity for children, you can create, colour and customise your very own replica car, inspired by the Museum's open collection display Auto Obsession.
What's that Zoe?

Watch with amusement as Museum mascot Zoe and your children explore some weird 'ancient' technology like the rotary telephone. Feeling old yet?
Junior Design Workshops
Learn creative ways to reduce your ecological footprint, design your own rocket, or construct your own newspaper chair in these hands-on workshops for young designers.
National Science Week

Discover what the Museum has on offer during National Science Week, a celebration of science and technology.
23 August, 5.30pm or 8pm
Join astronaut Chris Hadfield at his only Sydney appearance for National Science Week. Space Oddity is a blend of science talk, inspiring stories and performances and meet interesting scientists with tales to tell.
The Museum's Grace Bros courtyard has been transformed into a new outdoor playground. Children can enjoy hours of fun playing on the state-of-the art equipment.
