Digital Storytelling

Short course recommended for teachers and interested adults

Digital storytelling is the art of combining narrative with images, sound, video and text to create a short movie, typically with strong emotional content. Your digital story can be funny, educational, persuasive, autobiographical, reflective – whatever story you want to tell.

In these group workshops you will:

  • write a first-person story and record narration
  • plan and storyboard on paper your project to streamline the making process
  • source free media (sounds and images) and other useful resources
  • learn to use video and audio editing software to create your short movie

This course is suitable for beginners. Minimum numbers are required for course to run.

This all-day intensive course introduces participants to the technical and creative possibilities of non-linear video editing and computer software-based systems. It covers the key postproduction processes including editing techniques, file formats, titles and overlays, video capture, timecode, rendering and output options. This course uses the Vegas 8.0 editing system but focuses on key processes applicable to all editing software

An introduction to Photoshop
Short course recommended for teachers and interested adults

Learn the fundamentals of working with digital images in Photoshop. Topics covered include layers, masks, modes, drawing and painting tools, effects, file types and output options for print and screen. This course will use Photoshop, CS3, but is also applicable to Photoshop Elements. 

This is a hands on course - no need to bring anything. This course is suitable for beginners. Minimum numbers are required for course to run.

Intro to Sibelius
Short course recommended for teachers and interested adults

This course is designed for those new to Sibelius and users who want to improve their skills and pick up a few tips and tricks along the way. Assuming no previous experience, participants will go through the process of setting up a new score, exploring the different methods of adding notes and editing the score by adding dynamics and phrasing.

This introductory course would be useful for primary, secondary and instrumental teachers, arrangers and conductors.
