It’s like that with Run DMC
Straight out of Queens, New York in 1983, Run DMC started out with a cassette release of their first hit single, ‘It’s Like That/Sucker MCs’ which featured on their self-titled album of 1984. Their success continued throughout the 80s, especially with the release of their highest selling gold album ‘Raising Hell’ in 1986. Run DMC innovated by introducing rapping over rock beats and were known to feature guitar rock samples in their songs. Their now legendary remake of Aerosmith’s ‘Walk this way’ saw them breaking down barriers between rock and hip hop at the time (and the clip itself shows a wall tumbling down between Aerosmith and Run DMC as the uber battle/jam ensues).
With fans all over the world, Run DMC were the first rappers to appear on MTV, the cover of Rolling Stone and to break into the Top 10 charts. In recognition of their work, Run DMC have recently been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame, making them only the second hip hop group to be included in the honour roll, after Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five. Oh, and if you like Adidas sneakers, you may want a pair of these…

Run DMC *really* loved their Adidas
