The jacket is joined by one of the singer’s iconic silver sequined gloves worn by Jackson to the Grammy awards on 28 February 1984 where he collected eight awards, including Best Album for ‘Thriller’.
In an interview with TV Guide, Jackson explained his reasons for performing in only one glove,
“I thought one was cooler than two. I love to accent movement. The eye goes to where the white is – you know, the glove. And the feet, if you’re dancing, you can put an exclamation point on your movement if it has a bit of light on it. So I wore the white socks [too].”
The items are on loan from the Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum in Seattle and have arrived in Sydney just as the Museum celebrates Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’.
