The Powerhouse Museum

The Powerhouse Museum offers learning opportunities for everyone, from young students to lifelong learners. Our collections, exhibitions, programs and online resources explore science, design and history and celebrate human creativity and innovation.

Programs and resources for school visits are NSW curriculum based. A visit to the Powerhouse Museum combines observation and interaction to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding, while developing new learning skills and interests across a wide range of study areas.

Class visits cost from $5 per student with teachers free within the student/ supervisor ration.

The Powerhouse Museum, Ultimo is now providing teachers free general entry to its diverse collection of over 385, 000 objects that explore science, design and history to assist teachers with planning their next Powerhouse excursion. Simply present one of the following examples as proof of professional status on your next visit and see first-hand how the museum can be an invaluable resource and inspiration for your professional practice.

  • School staff ID card
  • NSW Institute of Teachers Accreditation Card
  • Union Membership Card – such as NSW Teachers Federation or Independent Education Union of Australia
  • Letter signed by the principal on a school letterhead stating professional status

Please note there may be a fee for entry into special exhibitions.
