The Sydney 2000 Games Collection includes an assortment of technical manuals and identification passes used by the Sydney Olympic Broadcasting Organisation (SOBO) during the Olympic Games. These items reflect the breadth and depth of SOBO ? its staff and facilities, its service of Rights Holding Broadcasters, and its role of producing more than 3400 hours of live coverage of the Games.
SOBO was established in 1996 as a complete broadcast company and as ?host broadcaster? of the Sydney Olympic Games. During Olympic competition it was the largest broadcasting production company in the world, employing 3300 personnel and transmitting to a global audience of 3 billion people. Its legacy now resides in archives of sound and video material, and in the Sydney 2000 Games Collection.
