Site Coordinators have been nominated in each participating organisation to support the Museum Metadata Exchange project. The Site Coordinator’s role is to liaise between the Project Team, specifically the Data Analysts. This liaison supports the site visit that the Data Analysts make to each organisation and the introduction and socialisation of the project to peers in each organisation. The Site Coordinators facilitate the development of ~50 (or more) collection level records with the Data Analysts by drawing out data already available in collection systems, in reports, in book or journal publications, acquisition files, curatorial files, collection policies, exhibition catalogues, and of course (!) what is in people’s heads (a 10 minute conversation with a person taking notes can winkle out wonderful collection knowledge).
