See how movies and plays are transformed from the page to the stage at the Powerhouse Museum this spring school holidays from 22 September – 5 October 2012.
Coinciding with the extension of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Exhibition until 7 October 2012, the Powerhouse’s school holiday program will explore how the creative geniuses of theatre and film, turn ideas from the page onto the stage and big screen.
Performing for the first time at the Powerhouse Museum is the Sydney Stage Combat school, Australia’s leading theatrical fight choreography and stage combat training company. Trained combat actors and fight directors will demonstrate how battles are designed, choreographed and fought with and without weapons for the stage and screen, in an exciting new performance art.
Renowned Sydney puppeteers, Erth, will reveal their creative skills in transforming mythical creatures from the pages of a book onto the theatre stage. Through drawing, visitors will get a chance to create their own legendary Australian drop bear that will be magically brought to life with the help of these masters of puppetry.
