Eternal Lace Wedding Dress

Dress and veil: needle lace using recycled plastic bags
Artist statement
‘The Eternal Lace Wedding Dress takes my previous fashion work to a larger, more ambitious scale. Being sculptural, it creates shadows when lit in a certain way. The shadows are an extension of the dress itself, playing with light and body form and creating multiple layers.
Eternal Lace Wedding Dress also reflects my cultural origins. My mother is French and my sister and I were brought up in Britain, but travelled frequently to France. My French grandmother had a business ironing the garments of very wealthy Parisians. She had tiny irons for lace trims, and worked with exquisite garments. I want to bring this detail and delicacy to the dress.’
