Artist statement
‘My initial studies in Australia were in painting but after graduation, with a scholarship from the French government, I moved to France to study tapestry weaving. I have been living and working there since. This immersion in a second culture has been, for me, an examination of my own identity, influencing my art practice.
Entre-deux is a French term for a lace or embroidered ribbon that joins, or separates two pieces of cloth. It also defines a space between, or a state of being between two extremes. Entre-deux DB93 is a work that focuses on the transition between a jumper and a long billowing skirt; and specifically, the space where this separation takes place.’
