Waltraud Janzen
Dimensions
690 x 690
Materials
Hand and machine embroidery on net, using thin nylon net and polyester thread
Artist statement
‘In winter, when the trees have lost their leaves, branches and twigs get covered with frost on cold foggy nights. They give me an impression of wonderful white lace made by nature.
I used a fine net with a hand-embroidered tree, then cut out the net between the branches and twigs. In order to stabilise the thin threads of embroidery, I used a very small zigzag machine stitch.’
