Artist statement
‘I create artwork which challenges traditional notions of the feminine by utilising a traditional craft technique, crochet, to create wearable objects.
My methodology is based on my reading of the philosopher Luce Irigaray who comments that there is no ‘essential womanliness’, however through vehicles such as masquerade, mimesis and mother/daughter communication, one may expose the fragility of identity, and in course, discover female empowerment.’
