Today is our second anniversary of participating in the Commons on Flickr. We have been participating in this great initiative loading many of our photographic collections up on Flickr for the Flickr community to share, comment on, tag, research and use in anyway they want. We have experienced some great research being done with our images and fantastic innovative projects. We have also gained some great connections with our Flickr community that we value very highly. Last year we celebrated with our Blurb print on demand book Then and now: stories from the Commons that went on to win a honorable mention award in the Blurb photography book now competition.
This year we have decided to celebrate our anniversary again, but we need your help. We would love to publish your favourite image on Photo of the day with your story accompanying the image. Send us a story about one of the images in our Commons account and if we publish it on Photo of the Day we will send you a beautiful handcrafted print of the image you select as a thank you. We are really interested in your story using the images from our photographic collections in the Commons.
You can send your story, with a link to the image of your choice, to photolibrary@phm.gov.au with 100 words or more. Let us know how you want to be attributed then if we publish your story we will send you the print. Your story can be creative, research based or just what the image means to you, we really just want some interesting stories from you to share on Photo of the Day to celebrate two years of participating in the Commons.
