This shot was taken at the White Rose café in the regional town of Binalong, NSW. It was taken in 2002 but appears to be photographed much earlier than this. It was photographed for a publication we were doing called What’s In Store? a history of retailing in Australia .. At the time of shooting the café little had changed over 50 years. There was open box shelving for groceries that lined both sides of the shop, a soda fountain and fruit and vegetables arranged in the windows. This must be the kitchen out the back.
