This is the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, our neighbours situated across the road from the Museum. According to Sydney City News the pool has just won an award for the Aquatic and Recreations Institutes 2009 ‘Facility of the Year’. The Harry Seidler architecturally designed centre is run by the Sydney YMCA and gets around 500, 000 using the facility each year. This centre features an unusual, wave-like roof that includes roof vents for natural ventilation.

Jean-Francois photographed this for an upcoming walking tour brochure that we are producing about our local, Pyrmont area.
