One of the suggestions I received from a Photo of the Day comment posted in response to the question ‘What would you like to see more of’ was to highlight more of the ‘behind-the scenes’ of the institution. So here is a shot of our photographic studio showing two of our curators working on a photographic shoot involving toys from the collection. We have photographed a range of objects in this studio of various sizes, the largest being this car.
Geoff remarks on this shoot “We were working on a series of playful toy scenes and this time we produced a range of studio shots involving tiny metal soldiers preparing for battle under a mocked-up ‘kitchen table’. As we recreated each scene we would reminisce about our own childhood experiences and invent scenarios, storylines and relationships within the scene.”

Great!
By the sound of Geoff Friend’s description of the shoot, this should have been a video of behind the scenes. It would be a youtube hit.
Good idea Bob
we will look into this!
I had some second thoughts about this idea. The mere act of observing and recording the behaviour may change it. People get self-conscious about their “play” behaviour, etcetera.
And why interfere with their private fun?
But if you have budding stars in the making …
