photos and stories from the Powerhouse Museum
This is another image from the museums Tyrrell Collection of historical photographs. It was created by an unknown studio, probably in the late 19th century. It is picture of a mother and son (showing a clear family resemblance) seated outside. The mother is nursing a tabby cat, however unlike last weeks dog, who was pleased with the photographers attention, this cat looks distinctly uneasy with the situation as she held in place by her owner. Nonetheless the cat has been captured in clear focus.
I’m sure the cat was a loved family pet, if she warranted being included in this family portrait, who scooted to safety as soon as this shot was completed.
