Page from Snowy Mountains photo scapbook

This page of photos is from a personal scrapbook compiled by Miss Dorothy Palmer of her weekend rail and coach trip to see the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme in 1959.
These photos were probably taken with a Box Brownie camera and sent away to the chemist to be developed in black and white. Dorothy probably waited at least a week for her photos to be returned, hoping that as many as possible would turn out well.
The photos are mounted in the exercise book using ‘corners’. It was a fiddly job mounting photos and getting them straight. Dorothy has done a nice job, placing the three images and carefully hand writing the labels.
Although photography is now almost completely digital and probably published on Facebook, the purpose for the majority of people remains the same – to make a personal record of where they went and what they did on holidays and to remember outings and special occasions.
