Trainspotting highly commended: people
October 12th, 2012 by Paula Bray

This is one of our highly commended photographs from our Trainspotting 2012 photography competition. This image titled ‘Homeward Bound’ was selected by the judges in the ‘People in railway and tram environments’ category to be included in the exhibition
The photographers caption reads:
Trains are the only mode of transport from their remote villages to Kolkata. Working for shamefully low wages on no-work-no-pay basis, these charwomen must miraculously fight into unbelievably crowded compartments each dawn… reach the city, wash, clean, scrub, cook… and begin the long homeward journey at nightfall.
