For the final day of History Week 2012, here is another photograph of a fashionably dessed woman, Mrs De Burgh. The photograph is from an unattributed studio. It has been taken in front of a painted backdrop depicting palms, while the subject rests her arms on a bowl of foliage placed on a pedestal, giving the overall impression that Mrs De Burgh is standing in a garden. Bringing the outdoors into the studio by way of painted backdrops was a common practice at the time this photograph was created.
