This photograph was taken during the recent Transit of Venus event that we held at the Sydney Observatory on the 6th June. This shows the artist Jeanette Landstedt working at table during the Transit of Venus. A transit occurs when the orbit of a Planet passes between the Earth and the Sun. Only two planets in the solar system have orbits that pass between the Earth and the Sun, Mercury and Venus.
You can read more about the event that was held at the Sydney Observatory on the 6th June on their blog.
