Taking the Museum to the city
December 7th, 2011 by Paula Bray

This is Janet Echelman’s Tsunami 1.26 artwork that we recently hung above George St during the Art and About festival and is an entrant to our Love Lace competition/exhibition. It was quite an intensive installation process that involved closing down George St to traffic over a couple of nights and having a team of engineers, lighting technicians, the police and traffic controllers to get this large scale artwork hung, suspended between the Town Hall and the Woolworths building. This is one of the first large scale works that we have been able to take out of the gallery space at the Museum and have it exist in the city for everyone to see and experience
You can see our time-lapse below that best describes this process.
