We are using Instagram now

This photograph, of the basement where we house some of the collection, was taken using Instagram, a new photo sharing app that makes images appear as if they have been taken with an old camera and shared it instantly with your friends. Instagram’s inspiration came from old Polaroid camera photographs and how they were instant and quite magical. If you have been following Photo of the Day for a while you will know that we love to share some of the behind the scenes of what is going on in the Museum and Instagram really appealed to us for sharing the photos quickly with our audience.

If you have an account then you can search for ours which is powerhouse_museum and then follow us to see our photos. We will share as many of these photos on the blog, twitter and Flickr when we can. Hope you enjoy them!

The Powerhouse Museum's Photo of the Day blog features a new image each day, chosen from the Powerhouse Photo Library.

The majority of these images have been taken by Museum photographers for a variety of purposes such as for exhibitions, of objects in our collection, events, behind-the-scenes and location shots. We also feature many images taken by our Flickr community and from our visitors. We hope you enjoy the photographs and stories.

The licensing of each image varies however we are trying to release as many as possible under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.1 license.
