English-born television and stage actress Liza Goddard ( see Clive Conway celebrity productions ) (b. 1950, arr. Australia 1965) acted in many classic British television series including Doctor Who, Bergerac and Midsomer Murders. Here she’s captured by English-born Sydney-based photographer David Mist with one of the kangaroos she starred alongside in the popular Australian television series ‘Skippy the Bush Kangaroo’ (produced in Sydney between 1966 and 1968).
The photographer recalls: ‘The joey came in a sack from the set of the TV series and was remarkably well behaved. Sat there and looked at us all. Liza made herself at home with him.’ The image was published in ‘Made in Australia’, a book of photographs by David Mist dated 1969 – the year Goddard returned to England. It has been scanned from a negative in the David Mist archive which was acquired by the Powerhouse Museum as a gift from the photographer in 1996, under the Commonwealth Government’s Taxation Incentives for the Arts program.
