Significance statement
Hedda Hammer's (Morrison's) passport was issued on 20 August 1932. On 10 July 1933 she received an exit visa to travel to Yugoslavia. This visa was cancelled when she secured a job as manager of Hartung's Photo Shop in Peking, after answering an advertisement in a German photographic journal. She left Germany on 10 August 1933 and travelled by ship from Trieste to Shanghai and then by train to Peking.
