Hedda Morrison was fascinated by the architectural beauty of Old Peking and took many photographs of imperial sites such as the Forbidden City, and Buddhist and Daoist temples. On weekends and days off she would journey beyond the city wall by bicycle. For adventures further afield she travelled by train and hired a donkey and guide. Morrison made a number of trips to photograph the Summer Palace, Jade Fountain, the Western Hills, imperial tombs, the Great Wall and Buddhist temples such as Tanzhe si and Jietai si.
