Tangye engine and horses
The piston of this Tangye engine moves up and down, turning its horizontal crankshaft. This turns a bevel gear, which turns a gear that is attached to a vertical shaft. Another set of bevel gears at the top of the carousel turns the horizontal crankshaft from which the horses hang, moving them up and down.
