Violin made by Arthur Edward (A E) Smith.
The Powerhouse Museum's musical instrument collection includes objects from around the world, ranging from classical through to contemporary instruments. Established in the 1880s, when the Museum first opened, the collection has grown to become the most comprehensive and important of its kind in Australia.
Musical instruments are made in a variety of shapes and sizes. The keyboards, plucked stringed instruments, flutes, violins and unusual instruments in this display reflect the diversity.
