A world first public exhibition from Aussie creatives inspired by play! Ten unique pieces of LEGO® brick mosaics are on show at the Powerhouse Museum as part of LEGO® Festival of Play.
2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the LEGO® brick in Australia and to celebrate LEGO® Australia has teamed up with ten creative personalities to build an exhibition of unique mosaic art pieces, made entirely from the iconic colourful LEGO bricks.
The artists invited to take part were drawn from a variety of Australian industries. The featured designs were inspired by the artists’ take on play and the endless possibilities of the LEGO brick and each turned into a meticulously built LEGO® brick mosaic up to 1.1 metres tall. The artworks were constructed from almost 300,000 LEGO bricks.
Designs by fashion designers Romance Was Born, paper engineer Benja Harney, tattoo artist and illustrator Simplesime, animator Fiona Dalwood, craft designer Kitiya Palaskas, surface designer Saffron Craig, patissier Adriano Zumbo, photographer Louise Whelan and child artist Max Treffkorn feature in this playful exhibition.
