Recent acquisitions
This display showcases objects which the Powerhouse Museum has recently acquired for its collection. For over 125 years the Museum has been collecting and interpreting science and technology, decorative arts and design, and Australian history. Museum curators develop the collection by researching and documenting acquisitions. Acquisitions are made by purchase, donation and bequest, with sponsorship or other means.

Get a glimpse of what you can expect from the next generation of Australian fashion designers. This display showcases six outfits by top graduating students from three of Sydney’s leading fashion design schools: Whitehouse Institute of Design; Fashion Design Studio, Sydney Institute of Technology, Ultimo; and the University of Technology, Sydney.

A floral feast
In a showcase framing the level 4 Café is a charming collection of Doulton vases and jardinières, featuring hand-painted designs of Australian native flora which the company designed specifically for the Australian market. The collection is interspersed with some local wares, including earthenware frogs created by South Australian pottery TG and AG Bosley, and a Regent bowerbird by Sydney artist, Grace Seccombe.
