Innovative young designers from the 2008 Higher School Certificate Design and Technology course will exhibit their works in the annual DesignTECH exhibition.

The 25 outstanding projects were chosen from over 3,700 works submitted for the HSC. On display will be a diverse range of creations, from fashion, furniture and textiles, to recreational and musical equipment, to farming innovations and children’s education.

Powerhouse’s Curator of Product Design, Angelique Hutchison, said: “Together the projects make up a diverse showcase of ideas and imagination by some of the state’s most talented young design students. It’s exciting to see so many strong concepts that are close to being commercially viable.”

Highlights of this year’s exhibition include a breast care cushion which provides protection and comfort after breast surgery; an innovative cordless drill powered outboard motor; ‘The Torailer’, a box trailer cleverly combined with the rear section of an actual Torana; and the ‘Dishcloth Couture’ gown made using dyed dishcloths.
