Outstanding young designers from the 2007 Higher School Certificate will exhibit their works at the annual DesignTECH exhibition, opening at the Powerhouse Museum on Monday 3 December.

A showcase of 26 innovative projects will be on display, from fashion, furniture and textiles, to green learning, sporting innovations and road safety designs.

Many of this year’s projects reflect the personal interests and passions of the students – from surfing and cycling to important issues like teenage depression and driver safety.

While the projects are diverse, behind each one is a similar process of investigation, research and evaluation in response to a real life need or opportunity. Students apply their creativity and skills in a wide range of materials and technologies to complete their projects. And each student’s journey from idea to reality is described in an accompanying portfolio.

Highlights of this year’s exhibition include the trio chair, time machine, no grip cup and the interchangeable surfboard.
