Portraits of a tea cosy

wild tea cosies
Book available at the Powerhouse shop

L3 cafe showcase until 7 June 2010

‘Portraits of a tea cosy is a tribute to all those who make
and give tea cosies to their loved ones, and to those who
receive and revere them.’

A small display of wild sculptural tea cosies is currently on display at the Powerhouse Museum (in the level 3 café area). They are the creations of self-described ‘funny knitter’ Loani Prior, who lives on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and admits to ‘having a knit change’ since publishing her first book, Wild tea cosies, in 2008. She now exhibits her knitted creations in galleries, gives Wild Knitting workshops, and collaborates with photographer Mark Crocker on portraits of people and their favourite tea cosies.

Loani continues to champion the cause of the tea cosy with her second book, Really wild tea cosies, published April 2010. You can find Loani’s funny knitty diary at www.grandpurlbaa.com
