Chartered buses
Buses can drop groups off and collect students at the Museum entrance on Harris Street, Ultimo. Coach parking is available on Darling Drive, Darling Harbour.
Prior to your visit
Please take the time to familiarise yourself and brief other supervisors on the Museum’s ‘Guidelines for student groups’. These are set for the benefit of all Museum visitors to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience when visiting.
Teachers must keep students adequately supervised at all times and monitor the number of students under their supervision by taking head counts at regular intervals.

Arrival
The schools entry to the Museum is through the main entrance on the Harris Street forecourt. This includes stroller, wheelchair and ramp access.
School groups are met by staff and your prompt arrival is appreciated. If you are delayed please contact the Museum’s booking office on (02) 9217 0222.
During your visit
Self guided visits If you have booked a self guided visit, you will have a brief induction by bookings staff, and then you’re free to set your own path through the Museum. Please note priority access to some spaces and exhibitions are given to groups who have booked Educator-led programs.
Educator-led programs Your Museum visit will be facilitated by a Museum Educator and your group will receive priority access to spaces as necessary.
Museum facilities and services
Cloaking
We provide cloaking bins for student bags but recommend that valuables are not brought into the Museum. Please ensure hats and other loose items are stored in bags to avoid lost property. The Museum takes all care but no responsibility for student belongings left in the cloaking bins.
Toilets
Toilets are located on levels 4, 2, 1 and in the Courtyard.
Refreshments
Food and beverages are available at the Courtyard Café located on level 1.
Powerhouse Playground
This outdoor playground area is in the Courtyard on level 1 and is paved with soft-fall rubber floor materials. Teachers must supervise students at all times.
Lost property
Report any lost property to staff at the reception desk or Museum security.
Services for students with a disability
The following facilities and services are available at the Powerhouse Museum:
- Parking for cars, vans and minibuses (two days notice required)
- A map showing ramps and lifts
- Wheelchairs for loan from level 3
- Accessible toilets
- Auslan language interpreters (two weeks notice is required)
