Free admission for teachers (proof of professional status required)
We provide teachers with free general admission to our diverse collection of over 385,000 objects that explore science, design and history. Simply present one of the following examples as proof of professional status on your next visit and see first-hand how the museum can be an invaluable resource and inspiration for your professional practice.
- School staff ID card
- NSW Institute of Teachers Accreditation Card
- Union Membership Card – such as NSW Teachers Federation or Independent Education Union of Australia
- Letter signed by the principal on a school letterhead stating professional status Please note there may be a fee for entry into special exhibitions.
We hold teacher preview events twice yearly where you can hear about upcoming programs and plan your visit to the Museum. We also offer a range of professional development opportunities that complement the Museum’s current exhibitions.

Education program teachers’ preview

Come and hear about the Museum’s exciting new range of educator-led activities and enjoy a glass of wine and light refreshments with colleagues as you. As part of this unique event for teacher you will receive complimentary viewing of Harry Potter™: The Exhibition. See hundreds of authentic film artefacts displayed in settings inspired by locations from another school you will no doubt be familiar with, Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!
