On Flickr
The Powerhouse Museum has a number of experiments happening over on Flickr.
On Flickr you can see a growing selection of (mostly) Creative Commons licensed contemporary photographs in our Image Services account. These drive our Photo of the Day blog.
You can also find our ‘no known Copyright’ collection photographs in the Commons on Flickr. You can tag, describe and download these images. We have also started ingesting the tags added by Flickrites as metadata back into our online collection database.
We have a number of Flickr groups that support exhibitions and other programs. These groups accept and solicit image contributions from the Flickr community. The current operational groups are our Tyrrell Today group which solicits contemporary photography to match photographs from collection taken in the 1890s; and Modern Times, a Flickr group to gather community photographs around the theme of moderism in Australia which supports an exhibition of the same name.
