The collection field of transport promotes public appreciation and understanding of the past, present and future roles of transport in our society. It explores and interprets its history, technology, design, social impact and future in Australia and within an international context.

Four collection development fields have been identified

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of NSW railways, we have updated the section on passenger steam locomotives.
