Textile length, silk batik, 'Minymaku', made by Betty (Kutungu) Munti, Tjurma homelands, South Australia, Australia, 1989
Designed and made by Betty (Kutungu) Munti (b.5/9/42) at a worshop in Sydney. Betty Munti is a Pitjantjatjara artist from the Tjurma Homelands near Amata in South Australia, and was born near Umpukula (Illintjitja).
The circles are Wati (men), Minyma (women) and Titi (children) in wiltjas (shelters); all one family linked by the tracks. Minymaku appears to refer to a womens workshop and/or womens work.

Textile length, silk batik, 'Minymaku', made by Betty (Kutungu) Munti, Tjurma homelands, South Australia, Australia, 1989
White silk ground with batik design worked in black, ochres and dark blue. Central, irregular grid pattern of broad wavy bands joined by circles, surrounded by two broad wavy border bands, the spaces between filled with broad sketchy brush strokes. Patterns used for grid bands & circles are based on traditional aboriginal design motifs
