Salt and pepper set, earthenware, Phyllis Craig, South Australia, 1940-1950
Blue bird salt and pepper shaker set, earthenware, hand-built : -1) the salt shaker, in the form of an a small novelty bird, standing on a hollow base with angled head with protruding eyes and beak and a flat back between short upward angled wings and a short raised tail, single pierced hole at base of tail and a larger filling hole under base, lead glazed pale blue with wings and tail dark blue and eyes and beak black ; -2) the pepper shaker, in the form of an a small novelty bird standing on a hollow base with angled head with protruding eyes and beak and a flat back between short upward angled wings and a short raised tail, four pierced holes at base of tail and a larger filling hole under the base, lead glazed pale blue with wings and tail dark blue and eyes and beak black.
