Production notes

96th Regiment of Foot arrived in 26 detachments in Australia, in 1841. The headquarter company was established at Windsor NSW, and 6 detachments were posted to Hobart. In 1843 the HQ was transferred to Launceston. The regiment left in 1849. Badge issued in 1871, a post Australian service badge

Helmet badge, brass, 96th Regiment of Foot, British Army, post Australian service badge, 1871. Badge with insignia of 96th regiment on obverse, "96" within garter and surrounded by motto. This regiment served in Australia 1841-1848. Ex L. Barton collection.
