Toy robot and box, Dalek, tinplate / plastic / cardboard, made by Marx Toys, Hong Kong, 1964-1970
Battery operated toy robot of Dalek from the BBC television series Dr Who housed in a rectangular cardboard box. The toy robot is made of tinplate and plastic and is painted black with gold banding and across the head is a red translucent window with a light bulb inside. There is also a separate red antenna, suction arm and exterminator gun that can be inserted into the front of the robot. There are forty-eight raised circular lumps in vertical bands of four running around the base of the robot and underneath is a pair of moveable, swivel wheels and a small pair at the back. The lid of the box is painted blue and yellow and features various text and images, while the base is plain.
