Object statement
Ceramic sculpture, 'Blue Holden', glazed earthenware, made by Margaret Dodd, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, 1976-1977
During the 1970s and 1980s, Margaret Dodd's series of small ceramic FJ Holden sculptures became famous beyond the world of fine art and craft. Dodd's sculptures feminised the FJ, grafting elements of women's identities and roles onto the leading automotive symbol of Australian identity.

This sculpture is more chaste and plain than many of Dodd's women / Holdens. Her life-size Bridal Costume is also part of the Powerhouse Museum collection.

This sculpture was made for, but not used ultimately, in the final cut of the movie 'This Woman is not a car'. This movie was made by the artist in 1982.
This ceramic sculpture was made by Margaret Dodd in Adelaide, South Australia in 1977.
