Description
Keffiyeh, silk, maker unknown, Syria/Iraq, [c 1935]

A striped silk headdress or scarf, sometimes called a keffiyeh. The headdress is tabby woven with weft faced stripes and bands in pink, blue, grey, mauve, dark yellow and olive green on a cream ground. Within the stripes are inserted interlocking tapestry woven stepped shapes. The selvedges are preserved and both ends are roll-hemmed and edged with crocheted picots and long silk cords with tassels.
