Description
Beer Pumps (2), cast nickle plated brass/glazed [stoneware], Tooth & Co, Limited, [Australia], 1900-1930.
Beer pumps of cast nickle plated brass construction with glazed [stoneware] handles. The handles are bored through the centre and fit over a central rod, fastened by a chrome plated nut at the proximal end. At the distal end the handle features fluted and bulbous decorative elements. The handle passes through a circular metal baseplate, which has a rectangular section cut out, to the pump rod. The baseplate is bolted from the underside to the counter by means of 4 screws, (now missing). The handle joins the pump rod by means of a clevis joint and pin, enabling the handle to be pulled down. The pump rod features another clevis joint at the distal end which connects the puller to the pump. The clevis pin is missing for this joint.
(-1) Handle features a black and white marbled glazed decoration
(-2) Handle features glazed bands of salmon and peach colour with a central floral decorative motif in black.
