Object statement
Textile length, printed and painted silk, maker unknown, Italy, c. 1730
This textile length from an unknown maker was probably made in Venice in about 1730. The fabric with its whimsical chinoiserie design was inspired by imports of printed and painted textiles from the East. Such lavish furnishing fabrics were often used to line the walls of rooms.
