Outfit (5 pieces), women's, silk crepe de chine, Deborah Leser, Australia, 1985-1986.
Five piece costume ensemble consisting of a coat, skirt and top, stole and hat, made of silk and coloured by wax resist, brush dyeing and painting, in brilliant colours on a dark background.
-1. Hat: 'Oz Essence', turban style, pleated silk on buckram base. Coloured by wax resist, brush dyeing and hand painting in brilliant colours on a dark base, signed Deborah Leser on fabric.
-2. Blouse: 'Bush Essence', silk crepe de chine, wax resist and brush dyed decorated with native flowers eg. banksias, strelitzias, gum leaves in brilliant colours on dark background. Round neck with centre back opening fastened with round purple plastic button, small vents at ends of sleeves, fastened with green plastic buttons. Hand stitched on neck and cuff. Other seams are machine stitched.
-3. Skirt: 'Bush Essence', silk crepe de chine, wax resist and brush dyed in brillian colours on a dark background, straight; ankle length, elastic waisted, waisting stitched with gold thread.
-4. Coat: 'Lingua Australia', knee length, silk shangtung with silk lining, dyed purple and fuchsia. Hand painted in brilliant colours. Wrap around style, no fastenings, quilted with gold threads. Quilted bands at cuffs.
-5. Stole: 'Rainbow Light', silk georgette, brush dyed in rainbow colours, with gold stitching at ends.
