Object statement
Accreditation pass, Rod McGeoch, Lillehammer 1994 Winter Olympic Games, laminated card with chain, made in Norway c.1994
This accreditation pass was assigned to Rod McGeoch, Executive Board Member of SOCOG, during his official visit to the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games. Featuring McGeoch's photograph and signature, it permitted access to three key areas at the Lillehammer Olympic site: the Operation Area, the VIP Area and the International Zone. Similar access would have been granted to other officials of National Olympic Committes.

The accreditation pass reflects McGeoch's influential roles in the years leading up to the Sydney Games, both as chief executive of Sydney Olympics 2000 Bid Limited, and, until November 1998, as an executive board member of SOCOG. (After the bid success of 1993, New South Wales Premier, John Fahey, supported McGeoch as future leader of SOCOG.) The pass also provides comparisons with Sydney 2000 accreditation material in the Sydney 2000 Games Collection.
Used by Rod McGeoch at the Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games, 1994.

Acquired by SOCOG from Rod McGeoch, and donated to the Powerhouse Museum after the Sydney 2000 Games.
