Statement of significance

As each medal winner at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games received their bronze, silver or gold medals, they were presented with a bouquet of Australian flowers and a cylinder featuring the fluid energy graphic logo of the Sydney 2000 Games. The cylinder and its contents were designed to be a unique and lasting reminder of the medallists' Sydney 2000 Olympic Games experience. It contained a print of Ken Done's painting of the Australian Bush Flower bouquet set against Sydney Harbour and an information leaflet with the common and scientific names of the flowers in the bouquet. The leaflet congratulated the athlete and announced that the flowers in the bouquet had been especially selected to represent the various states of Australia for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Information leaflet, paper, titled 'The Medallists bouquet of the XXVII Olympiad', with The Australian Flower Company logo, printed in French and English, and containing the common and scientific names of the flowers in the bouquet - the Waratah, Kangaroo Paw, Flannel Flower, Eucalyptus, Waxflower, Billy Buttons and 3 varieties of Grevillia.
