Teapot, porcelain, blue overglaze enamel and applied gilding in Japonisme style, Royal Worcester Porcelain Company Limited, England, 1880
Teapot shaped with an octagonal lobed bowl and a tall oogee shaped handle. The lid has a small knop. The spout is slim and curved. The body is decorated with transfer printed blue and white diaper pattern and gold ferns. Maker's mark under base.
Marks
Under base, maker's marks, stamped in purple on glaze, a circle bordered inside with four 'W's around a 'C51'. The circle is surmounted with a crown and below an 'R'. Also under base, handwritten in gilt 'B / 248' and an incised '6'. Also under base white paper sticker printed in blue 'THE WORCESTER / ROYAL PORCELAIN WORKS / NO. 19 / P.'. The lid also bears the makers purple stamp and gilt letters.
