Christmas card, Alistair and Aimée Morrison to Dahl and Geoffrey Collings and family designed by Alistair Morrison, paper, Dahl and Geoffrey Collings, Killcare Heights, New South Wales, Australia, 1960s
Christmas card from Alistair and Aimée Morrison to Dahl and Geoffrey Collings and family which was designed by Alistair Morrison. The design consists of a magazine clipping from 1881, another clipping probably from the same magazine, and typed speech bubbles. The main clipping shows a man and woman in a study or drawing room near a bureau. The man is standing and reading from a sheet of paper while the woman, who is seated, listens. The Morrisons have pasted a head upside down on the writing area of the bureau. Speech bubbles typed in red have also been pasted onto the sheet. The woman is shown saying 'You have a go at it, Geoff. I cant make the damn thing/ work. Read what it says/ again, and put in some more/ fuel. It may need adjusting.' The speech bubble for the man reads, 'Leave it to me, Dahl. I'll fix it. It says: "Fill nostrils with pure turps/ (use only plastic funnel), open mouth/ with teaspoon and turn key. Head will/ then sing 'Merry Christmas from Aimée/ and Al' until left eyeball is depressed".
